Barcelona are closely monitoring Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, reports Sport.
The playmaker has been in magnificent form this season and he is interesting the La Liga champions.
Coutinho is on the front page of Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, with the headline stating ‘Objective Coutinho’.
The Catalans are following the midfielder closely due to his ‘Barca DNA’.
In addition, Sport says the Brazilian has a great connection with Neymar and would be delighted to play at the Nou Camp.
Sport claim there’s been regular contact between the player’s representatives and Barca, although there’s nothing solid on the table at the moment. In the future, though, the reports strongly imply, the club do see him as an obvious transfer target.
His friendships with Neymar and Suarez, his six month loan spell with Espanyol 2012, where he got to know the city and the language, and even his “Barca DNA” are listed as the reasons why it’s inevitable he would choose the Blaugrana if he ever left Liverpool.
Coutinho has emerged as arguably the best player in the Premier League this season, scoring five goals in 11 appearances, which has helped fire Liverpool to the top of the table.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate not to sell the Brazilian Magician, but Barca have now firmly made him their number priority for the next summer transfer window.
It is claimed the Catalan club believe a fee of around €75m – £65m at the current exchange rate – would be enough to land him, although Liverpool will surely hold out for much more given the player’s importance and star quality.
However Barcelona are not the only Spanish giants hopeful of landing the former Inter Milan man, with their bitter rivals Real Madrid also keeping close tabs on the situation.
