The Nigerian Senate has stepped down the second reading on three bills for cattle grazing in the country.
They are 'A Bill for an act to provide for the Establishment of Grazing Areas Management Agency and for other related matters' sponsored by senator Rabi'u kwankwanso(Kano Central) and for 'A bill for an act to provide for the Establishment of National Ranches Commission for the Establishment of National Ranches Commission for the Regulation, Management, Preservation ,Control of ranches and for other connected purposes sponsored by Senator Barnabas Gemade.
The third is 'A Bill for an act to Control the Movement and Keeping of cattle in Nigeria nd for Other Related matters sponsored by Senator Chukwwuka Utazi (Enugu North).
The Deputy Senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu who raised a point of order when the lawmakers began to treat the bill during Wednesdays plenary, pointed out that the Senate lacked power to deal with matters that are on Concurrent list, except on the Exclusive list.
The Majority leader Sen. Ali Ndume backed the Deputy senate president on this point
